Description

The Business and Entrepreneurship course will examine what is necessary to create and manage a small business. The course will cover all phases of the small business cycle and what is required to be a successful entrepreneur. Topics include idea creation and feasibility analysis, financing, legal structures, business plan creation, selling, marketing and business communication, safeguarding the business, and managing the business. In addition, students will learn basic economics, business economics, financial statement analysis, bookkeeping and personal finance. Over the duration of the course, the students will study a variety of successful entrepreneurs and the businesses they have created. Students will also be asked to create a mock business plan, analyze theoretical business financial statements, and learn to communicate effectively in the business world. 

Objectives

The focus of this year is to build language and study skills to ensure that when students enter high school, they do so with a strong set of academic and English language skills. This is an adaptation of his course for online delivery and can include summer stays at the school.

Robert Kuchar

Business Teacher

Robert has taught at Rutgers since 2014. Previously, he worked in the financial services industry for nine years at UBS and Merrill Lynch in their wealth management divisions. He graduated from Hamilton College with a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy in 2005. While at Hamilton he was a member of the varsity football team. He is a member of the alumni board and an assistant varsity football coach at the Hun School of Princeton.
